Ursuline Schools flourish in big and small cities all over Indonesia. They grow in various cultures and challenges. Therefore in 2005, the education Commission of the Ursuline sisters in Indonesia organized “Serviam Camp” for Ursuline Elementary Schools students and “Youth Camp” for Junior and Senior Ursuline High Schools students. The goal of these programs is to encourage a spirit of togetherness (insieme) and pride as Ursuline students.

The first Ursuline Youth Camp 2005 held in Tawangmangu, Central Java. It was attended by 700 boys and girls from Indonesian Ursuline Junior and Senior High Schools. During the sharing season, participants of the Ursuline Youth Camp reflected on their experiences. The experiences that they told indicated that the program was very meaningful for them. They became more aware that they belonged to the big family for Ursuline students. They were very proud to be a part of Ursuline Schools and very happy to get to know fellow Ursuline students.

The joy of the first Ursuline You th Camp par ticipants prompted the Indonesian educators to invite students from Asia Pacific Ursuline Schools to join the next Youth camps. Finnaly, this idea was brought to the Asia Pacific Ursuline Education Conference in 2006 in Bandung. The idea was well-received. In 2007, the 1st International Ursuline Youth Camp was held in Gunung Geulis Resort, Bogor-West Java. Students and educators from Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, and Indonesia attended this program to celebrate our insieme spirit.

In 2015, the 2nd International Ursuline Youth Day was held in Solo-Central Java with “Keep the Love Burning” as the theme. In one of the activities, participants mingled with the local residents and people with disabilities and learned from them. They visited home industries nearby, the disabled rehabilitation center (“Balai Besar Rehabilitasi Sosial Bina Daksa”), visited blind families, and Thalassemia patients. From these activities, the could see firsthand how people had to struggle and survive in their lives. This experience led them to engage in deep reflection about their own lives.

This year, from 6 to 10 August 2018, the 3rd International Ursuline Youth Camp will be held in Gunung Geulis Camp Area, Sentul- West Java with “ Insieme in Diversity” as its theme. It Will be an event where each participant will celebrate the spirit of togetherness as Ursuline’s students and the diversity of our cultures. Th.Ang Le Tjien
